Ambitious women like you are no strangers to early mornings and late nights. You know how it feels to work 50 hours per week, sustained only by coffee, an occasional green juice, and a blind determination to meet your goals.
You also know it doesn’t feel good to live like that. You know you’re low energy, and tired as hell of spinning your wheels. If you’re working so hard, why aren’t you seeing the fruits of your labor?
Maybe it’s because you’re not watering the tree. You’re starving it.
We’ve all heard our mothers tell us a thousand times that “you are what you eat” as a ploy to get us to grow “big and strong.” As kids, we rolled our eyes and begged to go to McDonald’s. As an adult and as career women, we realized our mothers were right.
We are only as good as the fuel we choose. If your input is shitty, your output is going to be shitty, too. Try working 60+ hrs a week, working out, and running to your next zoom meeting eating nothing but Cheerios. You’ll be on the floor with exhaustion, unable to keep up with the demands you’re placing on yourself.
And those demands are okay. You’re fierce and determined, and want to become the best version of yourself. That’s awesome. We are here to help you reach those goals by letting you in on a secret I’ve already learned: that your diet = you, and you = your momentum.
Inspired ideas and productive days are only born of good, nourishing food choices. You need that mental clarity to reach those badass goals you’ve set for yourself without stopping yourself short in the middle of the day feeling tired, lethargic, and in need of an attitude adjustment.
You know how we throw around the terms “go with your gut” and having a “gut feeling” about something? Well, that’s not just metaphorical– there’s a real, physical connection between your gut and your brain backing those sentiments up. Long story short, that means that your gut health is crucial in keeping your mind sharp.
Our GI tracts have over 4,000 square feet of the intestinal lining. This lining creates a strong barrier that allows certain things to get absorbed by our bloodstream and blocks certain other things, like toxins and bugs. When that gut lining gets unhealthy, leading to leaky gut syndrome, that lining gets less discerning. Toxins and bugs allowed to pass into your bloodstream can lead to inflammation, changes in your normal gut bacteria, and other health issues.
Adrenal fatigue is another big one for ambitious women like yourself who are usually running a million miles an hour. If you’re under stress most of the time, you’re probably no stranger to the unexplained aches, pains, and fatigue you’re constantly dealing with. That’s adrenal fatigue, babe.
Adrenal fatigue is essentially your adrenal glands not being able to keep up with your body’s constant fight-or-flight state, which comes on in times of stress. Your body isn’t producing enough of the hormones needed to feel good.
We are no doctors, but we can share that our team has dealt with both of these issues, and changing our diets fixed us up QUICK. Lessening your stress levels and introducing regular self-care practices are essential, too. For now, though, we want to share this bomb smoothie recipe that starts our days off on the right foot every damn day.
1 tsp of Spirulina
1 tsp of Maca Powder
1 tsp of Turmeric
Pinch of Black Pepper
1-2 tsp of MCT Oil (If you have never taken MCT Oil, we would recommend starting with 1 tsp and working your way up to 2)
1 scoop of Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides
1 large handful of raw spinach
2 tsp of Chia Seeds
1 cup of frozen fruit (Cherries, Strawberries, Blueberries, Raspberries, etc.)
1 cup of cold filtered water (add as needed to reach desired consistency)
Put all in a blender (my fave is the Ninja!) + blend for 2-3 minutes until you reach your desired consistency!
Here’s the lowdown on all of these amazing ingredients:
Spirulina: Spirulina has the power to detox your body of heavy metals and boosts your memory. It also contains a whopping four grams of protein per teaspoon, which helps you feel fuller longer (so important for breakfast!). It’s also a great anti-inflammatory and antioxidant.
Turmeric: Turmeric is amazing for pain relief– if you’re dealing with aches and pains from adrenal fatigue, turmeric will help! It also improves digestion and has the power to destroy chronic disease cells within your brain and body.
MCT Oil: MCT oil is a miracle worker and our team sweats by it. It’s an instant source of energy that fuels your brain– so amazing for brain fog or memory issues. If you or a loved one suffer from dementia, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, stroke, or epilepsy, MCT can help repair brain cell damage.
Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides: This one’s SO important for leaky gut syndrome. Collagen contains glutamine and glycine, two amino acids known to actually repair your gut wall and help turn a leaky gut around. Bonus: collagen also strengthens your skin, hair, and nails. It’ll help to ease aches and pains, and aid your liver with detoxing your body.Chia Seeds: I honestly put these bad boys on everything. They are high in fiber, protein, calcium, potassium, and magnesium. All the good stuff your body needs on a daily basis. They are also loaded with antioxidants to help flush out your body from toxins. They also help reduce inflammation and regulate your blood sugar. Maca Powder: If you struggle with any hormonal issues, this is going to be your new holy grail. It is super packed with all of the nutrients your body needs to regulate your hormones and can improve your mood (as well as sex drive!) Maca has been known to reduce anxiety and help give you a boost of energy to get through your day feeling energized.
Staying in great health is the most important thing to grow your mind, body, spirit, and career. Without it, you’re running on empty, which won’t get you very far.
